Who is Lee Gaitan?
Officially, I am an award-winning author of four books, including the Amazon #1 Bestseller My Pineapples Went to Houston, First Edition, and my 2018 release Lite Whines and Laughter, which garnered three international book awards and for which I was named a First Place Winner for Georgia Independent Author of the Year. I’ve also authored chapters in the bestselling books, The Divinity of Dogs, Feisty After 45, and Angel Bumps as well as the award-winning These Summer Months and the anthology Goodness. My work has been featured on The Huffington Post, Erma Bombeck Humor Writers’ Workshop, The Good Men Project, Mothers Always Write, Enchanted Conversation, and Bella Grace among others. My blog entries have earned a first-place win as well as an honorable mention by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists, and my winning essay in the Nickie’s Prize Writing Competition is included in the book Sisters—Bonded by Love and Laughter, alongside contributions from several New York Times bestselling authors.
My book My Pineapples Went to Houston, Second Edition, has already been named a Maincrest Media Award winner.
Unofficially, I am a wife, mother, and over-the-moon grandmother. At work I am variously a writer, speaker, or teacher. But above all I am passionately committed to overcoming life’s obstacles, sometimes by the skin of my teeth (though I do floss regularly), but always with humor and optimism. I would much prefer that life be easy, pretty, and nice, but it rarely works out so neatly.
Most of us face our fair share of hard, ugly, and mean along the road of life. We are all going to take some bad bounces, but the key is to bounce back. I hope my books inspire you to do just that. If you’d like to hear more, I am available for a variety of speaking engagements, in person or virtually.
